It's hard to accept help from others, especially in a culture that values independence and expects people to pull themselves up by the bootstraps when things go wrong. I finally had no choice but to accept help from friends and neighbors several years ago. Accepting their help caused nightmares, but the help they gave me came freely from them and helped me start a new career. That career blossomed and I've been thriving for years. Now it's time to pass this message onto others.
There are no tricks in this photograph, only an observant eye and a prepared camera. The sunlight came through a nearby window at dawn and wrapped itself around this doorknob. This unusual lighting condition lasted only a few minutes before a cloud covered the sun.
Being prepared for a photograph like this requires a thorough familiarity with how a camera works. The more you know, the better your photography will be. Photo 1: An Introduction to the Art of Photography was written with beginners to intermediate photographers in mind. The book can be found at http://goo.gl/Aou5IE.
