You love close-up photos...

...but you can't take them with your camera! A little studying will help, and Photo 1: An Introduction to the Art of Photography can help. Study these subjects to improve your close-up photography:

  • Gain control over your camera's light meter
    • This photo was a direct meter off of the blossom
  • How to steady your camera
    • A tripod was critical!
  • Aperture settings and depth of field
    • I used an aperture of f/22 and set my camera to Aperture Priority
How did I use Photoshop to enhance this image?

  • I used a touch of Vibrance in Adobe Camera Raw
  • I used a Curves adjustment layer to work with the contrast
  • The Spot Healing Brush Tool removed a few small blemishes on the petals
